Letterboxing

I’m going to be hiding a letterbox in the Time Travel Pod,and hosting a letterboxing gathering “Boxing Burners,Burning Boxers”at CO2 camp on September 3 at 1PM.

It looks like there are a number of other burners who plan to hide letterboxes at Burning Man.

For info on Letterboxing,go exploring at www.atlasquest.com

Some stuff to consider about keeping the camp clean, green and tidy.

LNT PlanThe Leave No Trace planning sheet from the Earth Guardians
LNT PlanAnd the Green Planning sheet from the same good people who made Brad and Kimi’s tickets a reality.

As Terry can attest the Earth Guardians (which is a camp and an organization that operates within Burning Man) has been VERY good to us. Let’s make a special effort to return the favor. These two PDF’s should give you a good Idea about what a Leave No Trace Plan is and what a Green Plan is. We’ve worked really hard to reduce our impact on the Black Rock Desert and I’d like to see it kept up. I’ve also added a link to the Earth Guardians website Over in our links bar if anyone wishes to investigate further.

For Eve.

Great shapes like big machines rose out of the dimness, casting grotesque black shadows in the dim spectral glare.

Time-MachineOooh, just found on my bookshelf! From the first page….

“I am afraid I cannot convey the peculiar sensations of time travelling. They are excessively unpleasant. There is a feeling exactly like that one has upon a switchback–of helpless headlong motion! I felt the same horrible anticipation, too,of an imminent smash. As I put on pace, night followed day like the flapping of a black wing. The twinkling succession of darkness and light was excessively painful to the eye. Then,in the intermittent darknesses,I saw the moon spinning swiftly through her quarters from new to full, and had a faint glimpse of the circling stars. Presently,as I went on,still gaining velocity, the palpitation of night and day merged into one continuous greyness;the sky took on a wonderful deepness of blue,a splendid luminous color like that of early twilight;the jerking sun became a streak of fire,a brilliant arch,in space;the moon a fainter fluctuating band;and I could see nothing of the stars, save now and then a brighter circle flickering in the blue.”

Camp sound system

CAPSLOCK

OK,I will bring a decent sound system. It’s similar tek to David’s boke boom box;three little amps in a box, left, right and subwoofer. 20 watts, shold be decently loud w/o pissing off neighbors.

It needs a car battery to run from for any length of time at full volume.

Input is mini phone plug like headphones. Should be fine from a laptop of iPod.

Playa Bike

Lookit! I got this at the UofA auction yesterday. I’m a one bike girl and I don’t want to trash my only bike with alkalai,so I went looking for a playa bike and found this one,for $22.50. Smooth shifting action, good brakes. All it needed was air in the tires.

If you need a playa bike, more UofA auctions will be held July 7 and 21.
